School & Childcare

We offer flexible schedules with after-school care, designed to accommodate working families, and provide children with engaging cooperative play activities to provide a well-rounded learning experience.

Outdoor Environment

An expansive, natural space encouraging gross motor development and cooperative play. Equipped with a children’s garden, music wall, climbing tires, water/mud station & so much more! This space sparks a child’s sense of wonder, creativity, and exploration. While quiet areas allow for rest, reflection, and observation.

Our "themed" Summer Program is filled with fun, enriching activities designed to keep children engaged and learning during the summer months. From plenty of outdoor play to creative arts and craft projects, we ensure a fun, memorable, and educational experience for all of the children. Rooted in Montessori principles, our summer program also includes hands-on exploration in nature, practical life activities like cooking and gardening, music and movement, sensory play, and themed projects that spark curiosity and creativity. Children enjoy freedom within structure, opportunities for independence, and time to socialize and collaborate in a joyful, relaxed environment.

Our Approach

At My Friends Montessori, we believe in nurturing the whole child in a warm, engaging, and developmentally appropriate environment inspired by the Montessori philosophy. Our approach is centered around fostering independence, curiosity, and a lifelong love of learning in children from toddler through primary years.

About Me

Hello! I am, Monique Roy Whitcomb - aka Ms. Monique and I am the owner, director and lead teacher of My Friends Montessori.

As a native of Morrill, I recently returned to my hometown to fulfill my lifelong dream of establishing a small, nurturing Montessori school. I was drawn back by my deep roots in the community, strong ties to family and friends, and a heartfelt recognition of the need for quality childcare in the area. With a deep passion for early childhood education, I am committed to making a positive impact on children, families, and the community I care so deeply about.

I bring over 26 years of experience working with young children, including more than 21 years as a Montessori classroom teacher, working with children from 18 months through 6 years. My Montessori journey began with 10 wonderful years at Cornerspring Montessori in Belfast, followed by two years at Winfield Children’s House in Falmouth, three years at North Yarmouth Academy, five years at Turtle River Montessori in Jupiter, Florida, and one year of private teaching for a family in Abacoa, Florida. Before entering the Montessori world, I spent five years as an in-home childcare provider for children from infancy to age seven.

I hold an AMS Montessori certification for ages 3–6 and have continued my professional development through certifications in Early Childhood Literacy -specializing in research-based strategies rooted in the Science of Reading, Positive Discipline, Mindfulness for Children, Peaceful Living Skills, Early Childhood Music Education (Musik Garten), and Baby Sign Language. I also hold a Florida DCF NECC credential and maintain First Aid and CPR certification through the American Red Cross. Over the years, I’ve completed numerous continuing education trainings in child development and early childhood education.

I am a firm believer in the Montessori philosophy, which fosters independence, curiosity, and a lifelong love of learning in young children. I understand the delicate balance between education and care, and I strive to create an environment where children feel nurtured, respected, and empowered. My goal is to help each child lay a strong foundation for lifelong learning and success on their unique journey.
